Praying Against Deceit

Holy Father,

You are all about Truth, huh? It’s amazing how the sum total of Your every thought or word adds up to pure Truth (Psalm 119:160). I can see how that is definitive freedom (John 8:32).

As you teach me to pray, You’ve first lesson was on the antithesis of Truth – deceit. I know so many who are believing lies – friends, family, our nation. And then I realize that in some areas, I’m included in this list myself.

You know all (John 16:30). Measure my convictions and actions with Your yardstick of final reality. Begin within me – removing any veil from my eyes that keeps me deceived (2 Thessalonians 2:11).

Selah

You’re right. I have areas of my own thoughts that continue in a lower life. (Admit one to Him, now.) Although now unchained, my thoughts return again and again to the very place where the strong man once held me captive (Jeremiah 29:8; Ephesians 5:6). I am so ashamed and frustrated that I continue to eat the meal of the enslaved when Your banquet is spread and ready (Psalm 23:5).

I need to increase my time in the Word (Deuteronomy 11:18-20). I know that as I take in Truth, my thought life will be renewed (Colossians 3:10). And as You become my priority, my prayers will increase in authority.

So many need Your Strength to free them.  Hear my prayer and be released into the life of  __________. The strong man holds them captive with (name the dependency issue -anger, worry, addiction, etc…) and I ask that You attack, overpower, and conquer the evil one. Find the chink in his armor and come mightily to save them. May deceit be stripped of his weaponry in _______’s life so that You can use their past for Your glory. And protect ___________ from others who would further flatter and mislead (Romans 16:18).

Lead me in Your Truth and teach me how to wait on You, despite the busyness of each day (Psalm 25:5). I believe. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
