The Amazing Domino Effect

By Zephare Ramirez

Reflecting on the resurrection, I’m encouraged that it is continuous. Not simply something in the past on the cross, but also what He personally does for us now. He himself “brought us out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; and He set our feet on a rock, making our footsteps firm (Ps 40:2).”

I can honestly say Jesus did this for me. I was in a deep pit of bitterness and anger. The pit of hurts, wounds, and offenses was so dark and hopeless. He took me out of that. In my pain, He was telling the Father, “I know what she’s feeling, I know how that anger feels, I know what it feels like to feel alone and broken. Then, He sent Grace to enable me to do what I couldn’t do by reaching down and pulling me out.

Even though my life has healed and my heart has become whole, I can testify that “Sometimes the saints – ain’t.” I’m so thankful that resurrection continues. Jesus, who sits next to our God, is uniquely positioned to help you and me because He once was us. Tempted, mocked, rejected, wounded, broken, ostracized, angry, joyful, disgusted, compassionate, frustrated, He felt agony and was a man of sorrow who felt grief. Fully human just like we are. He overcame so that we could do the same.

And now, the resurrection continues its amazing domino effect. I am uniquely positioned to help those who are right where I used to be. My past is not a burden but serves a purpose, and yours can, too.

This is the beauty of a Savior Who not only came as a man but became like us. Everything He chose to do empowered us to live a resurrection life. Like Him, our new resurrection life is not just about us but others: the many who are like we once were.

There can never be anything to top what our Savior did for the joy set before him—for me, for you. But He didn’t stop there. Even now, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us so that we, too, can allow our past to serve a purpose.

So today, on this Easter Sunday, think about how His Grace has redeemed, healed, and set you free. Your footsteps are now firm. This is what resurrection life looks like: following Him and walking alongside others as they watch resurrection happen with you.Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, He will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!” (Romans 8:11 TPT) Hallelujah!
