Your Best Resolution

mortuary make-up

My dear child,

Every year at this time, you seek to make new resolutions. Sometimes it has to do with habits of eating – sometimes with habits of attitude – sometimes with habits of diligence. But rarely, if ever, are those goals sustained.

Ever wonder why?

It’s because they are always about you. You are still hanging onto the hope that you can spruce up the state of who you are. But doing so, you become a mortuary make-up artist – intent on making your own corpse still look alive.

I didn’t come to gradually clean up your life. I finished My work in you 2000 years ago, when we were crucified together (Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:6). Your old life is over. Putting life-like make-up on death doesn’t resuscitate it (Romans 8:6).

Now, I know that you agree with the concept. I watched as you memorized the verse about old things passing away and new things appearing (2 Corinthians 5:17). But, you really aren’t living it out, day by day.

Deep within, you still work to act better. You are daily consumed by the very cadaver I’ve done away with.

You seem embarrassed to realize that your life is not yet perfect (Philippians 4:12). You fuss and fume when you stumble, and hate it when others catch you at fault.

Such emotions make it obvious that you are still busy cosmeticizing the dead, not walking on in Life.

I came with Life (John 10:10). You seek perfection of the dead.

I’m patient with the process of your new birth. You stand powdering the nose of your dead corpse.

Hear Me, My beloved. You are beautiful because My Life shines within, not because you added a dollop of rouge onto the outer death. You please Me because you contain the essence of My Spirit. It is My Son within you that overjoys My heart.

When you mess up, I come to draw you back to Myself. When you do good, it is because I have gifted you with the strength to do so.

I’m about Life, not about how you feel about your death.

Have you invited Me within? If so, I remain – surging incessant Life within you (Luke 17:21; Romans 5:5).

I’ve made a blue-print for this Life and every single outcome sources from Me (Ephesians 2:10). Let go and relax (Psalm 46:10). Take a deep breath and believe I am Your Life (Colossians 3:4).

Close the coffin and walk away. Let 2014 be the year you walk in newness of My Life (Ephesians 4:23-24; Galatians 5:16).
