You can hear

Before can hear His voice, we must believe that He not only wants to speak to us but that He is also willing to do so.  John 8:47 says, “He who is of God hears the words of God”.

I love looking at the literal translation: He whose origin exists out of God is endowed with the faculty of hearing God and therefore is not deaf to Him.

If you are of God, then you can claim this promise:

You can hear the words of God.

Because God is spirit (John 4:24), He speaks to us in our spirits.

When we became a Christian, He made us a new person. Here, in 2 Corinthians 5:17, that Greek word for “new” means something previously non-existent – far different from what they were before.

Need more proof? Okay, go with me to Romans 8:9.

“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you”.

The Spirit dwells in us. Literally, He is fixed and operative within our soul. (Cool huh?)

He is working inside you – not because of what you’ve done – but because….well, just because He enjoys it.

As a spiritual person, He does not use our minds or our emotions in order to communicate with us.  These are too closely connected with our flesh.  He first communicates with our spirits.  We hear from Him first in a spiritual way.

Ever caught yourself crying for “no reason” because of a spiritual truth? It’s because often spiritual “words” are so deep within us that our minds cannot understand them at first.  Spirit is bubbling straight out of us and our minds are trying hard to catch up.

Share with us a story of when you knew God spoke. Take some time to write it down.

Now, what is keeping you from hearing from Him again today?
