What You CAN Do

Holy Father,

The evil one seems to be coming out of the woodwork. All around me, I see his handiwork: rioting, theft, suicide, cancer, and failed marriages. All point to the work of the destroyer (John 10:10). We recognize his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11).

Diverting my thoughts with videos and social media isn’t the battle plan for Your people. You have asked us to be vigilant in prayer for an adversary on the prowl (1 Peter 5:8). Open my eyes to see his hand and resist this strong man by pure faith in the One who is always stronger (Luke 11:21-22). I’m encouraged to know that even my faith doesn’t have to be whipped up within my feelings, but is One of Your many gifts to me (Ephesians 2:8). It is the literal faith of Your Son (Romans 3:26 KJV and Darby Translation).

We are in a war, and yet, sometimes, I’m too afraid to suit to fight (Ephesians 6:11). I struggle to balance vigilance with evil and gentleness with mankind. Then I remember that the war is fought in the spiritual realm, not in the fleshly one anyway (2 Corinthians 10:3).

Lead me daily to Your inner closet (Matthew 6:6). Destruction of violence and confusion happens in prayer, not in reading articles or watching news footage (2 Corinthians 10:4). Start eliminating deceit in my thoughts by captivating them with Truth (2 Corinthians 10:5). Lead me to stand in Your Light, for I know is the place where I come to know more light (Psalm 36:9).

Give many the desire to know You by preparing the soil of their hearts to receive Your implanted Word (James 1:21). Open their eyes with an increasing love for Truth, for that’s what leads to salvation (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Send out bold laborers in the midst of this chaos to speak Truth with gentleness and peace (Matthew 9:38; Zechariah 9:10; 2 Timothy 2:25). Prepare my heart for speaking Truth with Love rather than religion. Knowledge puffs up, but love makes a difference (1 Corinthians 8:1).

Open my eyes to see You often because that is the only way to hope (1 Timothy 4:10). Indeed, viewing You increases my expectation (1 Timothy 1:1; 1 John 3:2-3). Thank You for holding all things together (Colossians 1:17). Because You have promised and cannot lie, I have strong encouragement (Hebrews 6:18). Your hope cable is anchored firm within my thoughts because  the Anchor is secure within the heavenlies (Hebrews 6:19). Hallelujah to my Deliverer, the One Who will bring me safely into His Kingdom. To You be the glory forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen (2 Timothy 4:18).
