The Springs of Truth

1Corinthians2-13

Yesterday, we did a truth meditation on 1 Corinthians 2:12. Let’s move onto verse 13 today.

Rules are the same – we are allowing Truth to wash over us. Then, in so doing, we will write out a testimony as to what this truth means to us. (Check yesterday’s blog if you need more direction.)

“This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.” 1 Corinthians 2:13

“What we speak” – (Greek: laleo) – to utter a voice, to speak

“Words” – (Greek: logos) – a word uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea

“human” – (Greek: anthropinos) – applied to things belonging to men

“wisdom” – (Greek: sophia) – wisdom, either as that which belongs to man or the supreme intelligence which belongs to God

“but” – (Greek: alla) – rather

“taught” – (Greek: didaktos) – instructed

“Spirit” – (Greek: hagios pneuma) – the third person of God, possessed of the power of knowing, deciding and acting; used in other places as a gentle blast of air. Here with the addition of hagios – meaning most holy

“expressing” – (Greek: sygkrino) – only used twice in NT; also in 2 Cor 10:12; to join together fitly, compound, combine; “adapts the discourse to the subject”

In Greek the last two words are simply repeated: “pneumatikos, pnuematikos” – Note the root word. You’ve been seeing it in the word for the Holy Spirit or Pnuema. In other words: spiritual, spiritual.

So okay – no cheating, share in the comment section what He said to you.

Here’s mine:

The words that we speak are not just human, fleshly concepts. Rather they are actually instructed by the Most Holy God – the One who is all knowing, all deciding, all acting. He actually fits together our spirit to His own – Spirit to spirit, so we simply repeat what we hear Him say.

Did you notice?

It’s not our responsibility to think correct thoughts about God or have correct feelings about Him. We can’t do this on our own.

God Himself is the only One who can give us those pure thoughts or pure emotions.  Truth is not something we learn, but Truth is always revealed (Ephesians 3:3).

Truth always has a direction, first beginning within Him and then spilling into our spirits. Just like water, His Truth spills over from the Higher to the lower – from His Spirit to ours, then overflowing into our minds, emotions and actions.

Have you given Him the chance of spilling into you today?
