The Power of “Yes”

The valued molecule of “yes.”

The thought came as I struggled to pray through a request. “How do I pray for this, Father? This situation exceeds my wisdom. What do I say?

Say “yes.” Came the reply.

Yes?” I queried, dumbfounded. “‘Yes’ to what?

Quietly, He responded.”I am already praying for every detail of this crisis. I understand the hidden aspects of the present and the unseen elements of the future. I will guide your prayers in My timing, but you don’t need details to pray. I simply need your ‘yes.’ Agree with me on My plan of action.

Immediately, I recalled the oversized dumping bucket at the Kaohsiung Water Park. In my mind’s eye, I could see the 250-gallon pail that hung just off-center above a children’s wading pool. Fed with trickles of water through bright red pipes, the precariously suspended bucket awaits its tipping point.

At what point will the bucket spill?” I sensed Him ask.

When that final drop of water shifts the balance,” I replied.

Correct,” He smiled. “That last molecule of H₂O is like your ‘yes.’ Although infinitely small, it is necessary to initiate the overflow. What you consider a drop in the bucket is the spiritual impetus to release the heavenlies onto earth.

Whoa. How microscopic is my ‘yes.’ Smaller than a grain of sand and more minute than a speck of dust, my ‘yes’ is more pixel-sized than anything else. Selah.

But when we agree with what He wants, His kingdom comes, and His will is done according to heaven’s desired situation (Matthew 6:10). Our minute ‘yes’ is the stimuli that tilts the outpouring. It is the mustard seed of faith that moves mountains. We can concur with whatever He is already praying, even if we don’t comprehend it. Our ‘yes’ flips the toggle switch from .

Let’s meditate together:

Now (yes) is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).

And without (yes) it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a Rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Then the disciples …said, ‘Why could we not?’ And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your (yes); if you have (a yes, no bigger than) a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move; and nothing shall be impossible to (your yes)” (Matthew 17:20).
