Praying on Faith

Holy Father,

How suitable it is that You should include the shield of Faith in our spiritual gear – because without faith it is impossible to please You (Hebrews 11:6).  I believe that faith is Your gift, measured out to all that will receive (Ephesians 2:7-8; Romans 12:3) I pick up the spiritual shield of Faith as a barrier between me and the flaming spears of doubt that are hurled my way (Ephesians 6:16).  As I am safety shielded behind faith, move my faith forward to demolish all lofty lies standing between You and I (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Not only is faith pleasing to You, it is also the only way that I can work for You (John 6:28-29).  My progress in the Kingdom doesn’t depend on what I desire to do or what I actually accomplish (Romans 9:16).  Instead, it is by Your doing that I am in Christ and by Your working that I am kept there (1 Corinthians 1:30; Jude 24; Philippians 1:6).  Faith is the only spiritual action that You desire me to take (John 3:22-23).

As I join my faith with others, may we collectively use faith as a battering ram against anything that elevates itself above You (2 Corinthians 10:5).  May our faith make a breech in the wall of doubt and unbelief so that we may move in to take captives.  May the Word, our sword, cut deeply into thoughts and perceptions so that all are ready to listen intently to You (Hebrews 4:12).

Even as I take hold of faith, I cry out with others before me, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24).  Increase my faith that I might know You more (Luke 17:5).  May my life be lived according to my faith, not according to my doubt.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
