O Love that will not let me go,

I stand in awe, knowing that You will never abandon me (Hebrews 13:8). Even if my own father and mother desert me, You will not and cannot leave me (Psalm 27:10). You hover over me, like a protective mother bird, covering me with Your wings (Philippians 4:5; Psalm 91:4). Thank You for the warmth and safety of Your Presence (Psalm 32:7).

Not everyone knows of Your reassuring love. (Name of individual) doesn’t feel the soothing feathers of Your love because the pain of his past has left him guarded. Little does he realize that even now, Your Son is lovingly interceding for him in the heavenlies. Your desire, yes Your will, is that he comes to abide underneath Your wings for comforting warmth (2 Corinthians 1:3). You ache to wrap Your pinions of peace tightly around him, to protect him from the barrage of the world (Luke 13:34).

Jesus, when You returned to the heavenlies, You gave Your children responsibility as Kingdom scouts, Your eyes and ears here on earth (1 Peter 3:22; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19). I believe (name’s) heart is in great need of deliverance. He can’t see Your desire for him yet, so You send intercessors as Your representatives “on the ground.” You have opened my heart to see his need and burdened my emotions for him. I am inadequate for this work but cling to Christ’s adequacy within me. His deliverance is complete in You, so I ask You to release Your finished victory within him (Ephesians 1:7; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

Spirit of God, hover over (name) with the warmth of Your brooding feathers. By a mere word, You call into being that which does not exist (Romans 4:17). (Name’s) past has built up a hard shell against knowing You (2 Corinthians 10:5). Underneath that resistant exterior is a life created in Your image (Genesis 1:26). You see him as an offspring of Your Divine Nature, desiring that he turn and run to You (Acts 17:29-30).

Overshadow him with Your creative, mothering-instinct. Only Your kindness will stir new life within him so that the constricting shell of his past is cracked open (Luke 1:35). Like a brooding mother hen, You know how to incubate hope and rotate his shell so that the truth seed cannot stagnate and wither away (Luke 8:6). May he hear the soft coo of Your voice, coaxing him out of the darkness and into Your glorious Light (1 Peter 2:9). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
