My Busy, Busy Child

Come. Rest your head here on My Shoulder. You are tired…exhausted. Let Me be your Rest (Matthew 11:28).

You are diligent in a lot of things. You remind Me of Martha in that way (Luke 10:40). But, has it ever occurred to you that really only One thing is necessary (Luke 10:42)? …The diligence of relaxing in Me (Hebrews 4:11). I am in charge, so you don’t have to be. It’s really quite simple.

Think about it. If you were to rest in Me and allow My energy to stream forth instead of conjuring up your own (Luke 8:46), you would be at peace no matter what. That, my busy bee, is the secret of our relationship.

I am the Vine, remember (John 15:1)? And you, as the branch, only have the sap of Life as I flow through you (John 15:5). For some reason, you have this idea that Life-sap is something that you are supposed to store up for later use. You think that if you have a “good” quiet time that you are better equipped for the day or if you are rushed, then the source won’t be enough. That idea doesn’t come from Me. That’s the deceiver’s lie.

Life-sap isn’t a quivering emotion or some spiritually exciting thought. Life-sap is Me: the Living, Breathing, Person of the Triune God. I’m not parceled out or used up. I AM (Exodus 3:14). The same yesterday when you had a great quiet time and today when you didn’t (Hebrews 13:8).

Please, oh please, just believe. Believe that when I say that I have come to you….it really is Me: the One Who walked on water, the One who fed the five thousand, the One who was raised from the dead. The Spirit that I manifested to my disciples 2000 years ago is the same Spirit that now surges through your spirit (1 John 1:1-3). I am your Life (Colossians 3:4).

When I cried out on the cross, “It is finished!” (John 19:30), I wasn’t only describing My work, I was declaring the completion of yours as well. Don’t you see? If you truly have My Life replacing your own, then all of your daily details are already taken of. I am the God who accomplishes all things for you (Psalm 57:2).

That child that you are worrying about raising? He’s already been completed in Me.

Those finances that you are concerned about securing? The best for you has already been finalized.

That relationship that’s eating your lunch?  The specifics are already laid out and accomplished

Trusting Me is kinda like putting one of those tiny sponge animals in water for the first time. Faith allows My details to enlarge before your very eyes. But unlike porous toys, My plans for you aren’t just larger versions of the same old thing. They take on Life, Sinew, Bones and Breath (Ezekiel 37:1-10). Believing in Me changes the whole course of your life. And some of it happens even while you are sleeping (Psalm 127:2).

So, look at My Heart. Don’t just believe that I exist. Know that I lavish upon anyone who gives Me a faithing chance (Hebrews 11:6). Aren’t you ready to rest in a promise like that?
