Intercession for Anxiety

Holy Father,

You have been my Deliverer in the past and continue to seek ways to liberate me (2 Corinthians 1:10). Not only do You untangle what has entangled, You are a God Who breaks the trap altogether (Psalm 25:15; 124:7). Hallelujah! Emancipation must be one of Your superpowers. Thank You for being the Rock I can run to whenever I am overwhelmed (2 Samuel 22:2). You are worthy of praise (2 Samuel 22:4).

My commission on earth is not only to represent Your Kingdom but also as a watchman for enemy activity (Ezekiel 33:7). On this reconnaissance mission, I’ve become aware of a hostage situation of my friend ___________. (Anxiety, negative self-talk, depression, low-esteem, gluttony, lack of joy, etc.) have ensnared her thinking. Not only is she chained to these thoughts, but the enemy is also bombarding her with torrents of terror and hopelessness (2 Samuel 22:5-6). She feels trapped.

So, in authority and with the armor of Jesus, I willingly represent the advance unit in Your campaign to establish peace in _______’s heart (Luke 10:19; 1 John 5:4-5). As I defend the line in prayer, I ask that You send in reinforcements on her behalf. Dispatch Your angel specialists, a holy SWAT team, to break through and rescue her from this hostage situation (Hebrews 1:14).

I’m not only asking for ministering angels but for You, the Commander and Chief to come. Hear these cries and deliver her from disturbing thoughts (2 Samuel 22:7). I know You are ready and willing to rescue. May Your anger stir toward these enemies, not toward flesh and blood, but toward the forces of darkness (2 Samuel 22:8; Ephesians 6:12). Stimulate hope within __________ as her fear of the destroyer turns into anger against the assassin. May she be angry, yet sin not (Ephesians 4:26).

Command the darkness to obey You as You radically change her thought patterns (2 Samuel 22:12-14). Overturn the strategy of the evil one and deliver her from her strong enemies (2 Samuel 22:17-18). No matter how mighty the fear, You remain greater (2 Samuel 22:18). Your plan is not just in defeating her foes, but in showering her with Your delight (2 Samuel 22:20). Hallelujah! May _________ cling to this truth every moment of the rescue.

Reveal Your uprightness and blamelessness in a tangible way (2 Samuel 22:26). You are her Lamp, O Lord. Light her way in every dark path (2 Samuel 22:29). Grant me faith to envision her storming enemy soldiers herself one day and leaping over all walls blocking You (2 Samuel 22:30; 2 Corinthians 10:5). Begin now to set up full emotional health for her because Your way of deliverance is a perfect one. Your Word is tried and trustworthy (2 Samuel 22:31). I commit her case into Your competent hands. I sign this military battle request with Jesus’ Name, Amen.
