Help for a Heavy Heart

Several weeks ago, we started looking at prayer together. If you read the initial posting, you will remember that when I compiled selected prayer verses, I found them all to be about Truth.

Now let’s do more than just talk about prayer. Let’s truly intercede for someone. Who do you know that needs a firm dose of Truth in their lives? Use the outline below to take hold of the Truth offered by God and bring it into their lives. If you can’t think of anyone specific, pray for the country in which you currently live.

“Holy Father,

1. Bind satan from the work of deceit:

Bind up the deluding influence that keeps _______ from believing what is false (2 Thessalonians 2:11).

Protect _____ from having contact with those who would deceive them through smooth and flattering speech (Romans 16:18).

2. Prepare their heart to receive Truth:

Create within _____ the desire to know You: the Truth (Psalm 143:6, Psalm 51:6).

Prepare the soil of _____’s heart: till it, remove the weeds and rocks, moisten it- in order that theirs would be a heart that holds fast to the seed of Truth planted within.  May theirs be a fertile soil that goes on to bear fruit with perseverance (Mark 4:20. Luke 8:15).

Give _____ the desire to allow you to prune all sin from their lives in order to accept the engrafted Word (James 1:21).

3. Open their eyes to see Truth:

Lord, I know that satan’s strategy is to keep eyes blinded so no one can see light (2 Corinthians 4:4).  Yet, I ask that You open ______’s eyes to see Truth (Luke 4:18).

Open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light so that ______ may receive forgiveness and an inheritance (Acts. 26:18).

May they see Truth with their spiritual eyes and perceive the need of their hearts (John 12:40).

May the secrets of _____’s heart be disclosed, so that they will worship You (1 Corinthians 14:25).

Grant ______ the repentance that leads them to knowing Truth, so that they may come to their senses and escape the purposes of the evil one (2 Timothy 2:25-26).

May their every action be influenced and directed by You so that they will see Truth and thus come to the Light  (John 3:21).

Break the cycle that causes ______ to learn without really knowing Truth.  Be their Truth (2 Timothy 3:7).

May ______ receive such a love for You as their Truth that they would know a complete salvation (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Thank you for being a God who hears every prayer that is in accordance with Your Word. Remind me often today to breathe these prayers in and out before You. Give me the patience to await the timing of Your answers. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
