Two months ago, we began looking at intercessory prayer. We’ve discovered together that the Father is supremely interested in releasing Truth upon our world at our invitation through prayer.

As we have dug into the Scriptures, we notice that Truth follows is a natural progression of revelation. The first thing that the Lord must do is to  bind up the work of deceit by removing the veil that keeps minds misled (2 Thessalonians 2:11). Satan is busy misdirecting interest away from the Spirit (2 Corinthians 4:4) and he must be stripped of power in order that the Father can begin His work of light

Secondly, God works to begin the prep work with the soil of the heart (Luke 8:15). How can a life desire Truth if it has no desire for Him? After all, He is the Truth (John 14:6) and our prayers release His gardening Hand upon the soil of a hardened heart. It must be tilled, cleansed and irrigated before it is ready to receive the implanted Word of God (Mark 4:20; James 1:21). And we mustn’t worry about the time it takes or His methods – that’s often the really hard part, huh?

Next, the Father must open eyes to see Truth(Luke 4:18). Our prayers are specifically directed toward breaking the cycle of learning without really knowing Truth (2 Timothy 3:7). A heart must perceive a spiritual need before they are ready to confess their heart secrets and make Him Lord (John 12:40; 1 Corinthians 14:25). We pray that He open their eyes to have a real love for Truth as this is what leads to a complete transformation (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Then, we realized that someone has to go talk to them. Somebody has to be sent (Romans 10:14-15)! Granted, we may struggle with the needed courage, but He invites us to ask for boldness, so that our tongues are ready when the time comes (Acts 4:29). We are humbled to think that we might be the very ones called to speak out and ask Him for gentleness, patience and a life of integrity (2 Timothy 2:25; Zechariah 8:20-23).

With deceit bound, hearts prepared, eyes opened and Truth spoken, there is yet one other step toward the full revelation of Truth. Faith, the only action we can take to please God, must be activated (John 6:29). Join us Monday as we delve into this mysterious victory (1 John 5:4).

“Father, Increase my faith, so that I can pray for it to be activated within the hearts of others.”
