Wash well. Core and slice. Peeling is optional.
Add apples in pan large enough to stir apples without spilling. Add 2 tablespoons of water. Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking. Remove from heat when apples darken and begin to soften. Add a pat of butter, raisins, and cinnamon if desired. Serve immediately. If you desire applesauce, cook longer, until apples are desired consistency.
Slice apples in half only. Coat apple with olive oil or spray with cooking spray. Grill over medium heat, 6 to 8 minutes on each side. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired before serving. May serve with ice cream or shortbread for a light dessert.
