black hole

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep.” (Genesis 1:2)

Our lives were a black hole before Him.

Formless and void. Covered in darkness. But the Spirit of God moved and introduced Light. He called us “out of darkness and into His marvelous Light,” so we can now be called “children of Light” (1 Peter 2:9; Ephesians 5:8).

Aren’t you glad that His creation of you doesn’t stop with the initial light?

Day by day, moment by moment He continues to create us into His image. Separating light from darkness, yielding seed, bearing fruit. He continues moving toward His goal for us and accomplishes that which concerns us. “The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting (Psalm 138:8).

Developing us gradually.

Processing us patiently.

But always working with the end in mind. Seeking that we look like Him and bear fruit that lasts. “But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working” (John 5:17). “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…Be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 2:26, 28) (Jesus said:)“I chose you…that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain” (John 15:16).

Faith is our only initiative. Jesus made that point Himself, “This is the work of God, that you believe” (John 6:29). The One Who has called us into existence, will also consummate our transformation. “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass” (1 Thessalonians 5:24). God is faithful and has a great track record to prove it. After all, “not one of the good promises which the Lord made to the house of Israel failed” (Joshua 21:45). When He creates, His Spoken Word has power and never reverberates back into His ears without producing what He says. “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

Let’s not only believe that He is: the Creator — the Almighty — the only true God. Let’s also believe that He completes what He begins. He rewards those who wait expectantly for Him to finish what He starts. “He who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). “God…Himself (will) perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you” (1 Peter 5:10).

“Hallelujah, Lord. I believe.”

“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you” (Isa 60:1-2).
